How do you say “Are you ready?” in Japanese?
Today’s phrase is :
Are you ready?
準備オッケー?
junbi okkē
If you want to ask politely, you can say :
準備オッケーですか?
junbi okkēdesuka
Pronunciation
“準備 (junbi)” means “ready”.
“オッケー (okkē)” in Japanese and “OK” in English are pretty much the same. You can basically use “オッケー” in the same situations you use “OK”.
You do not need to say “あなたは (anatawa) = you are”. In everyday conversation, we do not usually say “あなたは”.
If you are ready, you respond like this :
オッケー!
okkē
Or politely :
オッケーです!
okkēdesu
If you are not ready yet, you can say :
まだ。
mada
Or politely :
まだです。
madadesu
“まだ (mada)” means “not yet”.
