How do you say “I live alone.” in Japanese?
Today’s phrase is :
I live alone.
一人暮らしだよ。
hitorigurashi dayo
If you want to speak politely, you can say :
一人暮らしです。
hitorigurashi desu
- I live = 私は住んでいます watashiwa sundeimasu
- alone = 一人で hitoride
The literal translation of “I live alone.” is “私は一人で住んでいます (watashiwa hitoride sundeimasu)”, but “一人暮らしです” sounds more natural.
(わたしは)一人暮らしです
(I) live alone
We do not usually say “わたしは (= I)” in everyday conversation.
