How do you say “I’m allergic to _ .” in Japanese?
Today’s phrase is :
I’m allergic to _ .
_ アレルギーなんだ。
_ arerugī nanda
We say “アレルギー (arerugī)” for “allergies”.
When you want to say “I’m allergic to _ .”, put the things you are allergic to just before “アレルギー”.
For example, if you want to say “I’m allergic to cats*.”, you can say like this :
*cats = ねこ (neko)
ねこアレルギーなんだ。
neko arerugī nanda
Or if you want to speak politely :
ねこアレルギーです。
neko arerugī desu
ねこ
cats
+
アレルギーです
am allergic to
We do not usually say “わたしは (watashiwa) = I” in everyday conversation.
