How do you say “What’s the time difference?” in Japanese?
Today’s phrase is :
What’s the time difference?
時差何時間?
jisa nanjikan
If you want to ask politely, you can say :
時差何時間ですか?
jisa nanjikandesuka
- what’s … ? = … は何? … wa nani
- the time difference = 時差 jisa
The literal translation of “What’s the time difference?” is “時差は何? jisawa nani”, but that doesn’t make sense.
When we ask for the time difference, we say “時差何時間? jisa nanjikan”. “何時間” means “how many hours”.
時差
the time difference
+
何時間
how many hours
