How do you say “Yes and no.” in Japanese?
Today’s phrase is :
Yes and no.
何とも言えない。
nantomo ienai
If you want to speak politely, you can say :
何とも言えないです。
nantomo ienaidesu
- yes = はい hai
- and … = と … to …
- no = いいえ iie
The literal translation of “yes and no” is “はいといいえ”, but that sounds weird. We say “何とも言えない” instead in such cases.
